About this site
Hourly Paycheck Calculator is an independent tool that estimates take-home pay for U.S. hourly workers. It exists to answer the everyday wage questions — “what's $22 an hour after taxes?”, “is that bi-weekly or semi-monthly?”, “how much is time and a half?” — clearly and accurately, without a signup or a sales pitch.
Why we built it
Big payroll companies own the top of search but serve the long tail poorly: their calculators are generic, gated, or buried in upsells. We wanted a fast, private, single-purpose tool that treats each common wage as its own answerable question and shows its work.
How it works
Every calculation runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — your wage and deduction inputs never leave your device and are never sent to a server. The tax logic is a small, unit-tested library built on 2026 figures drawn from primary government sources: the IRS for federal brackets and FICA, the SSA for the Social Security wage base, and each state's revenue department for state rules. We currently support 17 states and add more as we verify them. Every figure and formula is documented on our methodology page, which is generated from the same data the calculator uses.
How it's funded
The site is free and supported by advertising. Ads are kept out of the calculator's result area so they never sit next to your figures, and we never sell or share the numbers you enter (we never receive them in the first place). See our privacy policy for details on advertising cookies.
Accuracy & feedback
These are estimates, not tax advice — see the note on every result and ourterms of use. If you spot a figure that looks wrong, pleasecontact us. Correcting errors is the whole point.
